Vernon & Diana Harris
Peaceful Passage Program

Saying goodbye to a beloved dog is one of the most difficult decisions a family can face. For some pet owners, the emotional burden is compounded by financial hardship.

The Vernon & Diana Harris Peaceful Passage Program was established to help Jackson County families provide a peaceful and humane end-of-life option for their dogs when financial circumstances might otherwise prevent them from doing so.

Vernon and Diana Harris were Jackson County residents who cared deeply about the wellbeing of both people and their pets. This program honors their compassion by helping local families navigate one of the most difficult moments of pet ownership with dignity and support.

Through this program, ARF may provide up to $150 in financial assistance toward veterinary euthanasia services and communal cremation (no return of cremains). Assistance is awarded based on eligibility, demonstrated need, and available funding. Payment will be made directly to the veterinary practice.

A Final Act of Compassion

When a beloved dog is suffering, families should be able to focus on providing comfort and saying goodbye—not on how they will afford essential end-of-life care. The Vernon & Diana Harris Peaceful Passage Program exists to help ensure that financial hardship does not stand in the way of a humane and compassionate farewell.

If you have questions about the program or the application process, please contact ARF for assistance.
